Abercrombie Tries to Atone for Harmful Remarks of CEO

Abercrombie and Fitch has been taking steps to make up for the recent remarks of the CEO Mike Jeffries, who stated that he only wants “thin and beautiful people” shopping in his stores. The company and Jeffries himself have issued an official apology for his harmful and discriminatory remarks.
Abercrombie is taking steps to reinforce the apology. The company recently announced that they are creating a scholarship program for kids who have overcome bullying or taken action against bullying. They will also host a series of high school conferences to educate students on the effects of bullying and how to stop it.

The advisory committee for selecting scholarship recipients will include Joel Haber, a psychologist and anti-bullying expert, who will also work within the retail company itself providing consultation on issues that are harmful to their young demographic.
