Social networking site We Heart It conducted a
survey, released exclusively to TIME, to take a closer look at the reality of
online bullying.
A focus group consisting of twelve We Heart It users and
non-users comprised a list of unspoken rules for social media that indicate
what is deemed socially acceptable, including such notions as “have lots of
followers” and “remove photos that don’t get enough likes”. In another survey,
We Heart It found that roughly 66 percent of social media users experience
bullying. The article insists that one of the best ways to avoid online
bullying is to disable comment functions.
