Virginia Teen’s Bullying Story Just One of Many in the State


A 14-year-old girl anonymously sharing her experience of bullying in a Virginia school has prompted other students and parents to speak up about their experiences. “Jane” as she has been deemed, shared her story of being verbally and physically bullied last year, even sustaining a concussion in one violent attack.

School Summit Utilizes Social Media for Anti-Bullying Efforts


Schools in Michigan are taking steps to combat bullying problems with their “Okay to Say” program and anti-bullying summit. The summit addressed students, teachers, and other faculty with tools and strategies to deal with bullying in the school system, which included a speech by Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette.

Guy With 'I Am a Bully' Sign: Judge Is Being Mean to Me


Edmond Aviv, 62, is being punished for yelling out racist slurs at the little kids in his neighborhood, especially if the kid is disabled or mentally challenged. He has smeared a neighbor’s car with dog feces, and has also dumped fabric softener all over a lawn, as well as spat on a woman and calling her a monkey mama.

A new study shows that people who are bullied during their childhood can grow up with carrying negative mental, physical, and social side effects. The victims suffer from anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts throughout their adult life.

Music Spreads Anti-Bullying Message Through Teen Nation Tour


The Teen Nation Tour put on a concert for over 500 students at Cedar Spring Middle School in order to promote anti-bullying messages and awareness. The theme of the tour is “Stand and Defend Against Bullying” and featured multiple artists covering popular songs in the pop and R&B genres.

Man in Ohio Forced to Hold Sign Publicly as Part of Bullying Sentence


Edmond Aviv, 62, spent 5 hours of his weekend on a street corner displaying a sign declaring that he was a bully. Aviv’s sign holding was the result of the judge’s sentencing to a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct from a 15-year dispute with his neighbor.

A Pennsylvania teen was charged and convicted of disorderly conduct after his school district contacted the police. The school district reached out to authorities after the teen recording a 7-minute long video of his alleged bullies taunting and harassing on his iPad.

Bullies relentlessly tortured 13-year-old male cheerleader, which forced him to quit and leave school.  Known as BB, he told reporters that he has been bullied everywhere from cafeteria to the hallways and even at the gym when he would practice his routines.

Investigation Shows More than Bullying to Blame in Girl’s Suicide


The investigation of 12-year-old Rebecca Sedwick's  tragic suicide in 2013, which had been previously believed to be caused solely by bullying, is now being revisited for other potential causes. Sedwick committed suicide in September after she was allegedly harassed and cyberbullied by classmates with cruel messages.

Nine high schools in California are participating in a week-long campaign to prevent bullying and spread positivity among students. The campaign, called “Post-A-Smile,” involves students anonymously writing positive, upbeat notes and compliments on Post-It notes stuck in different areas throughout the schools.

Bullying Rate and Popularity Show Correlation


Often when victims of bullying come to mind, people envision a social outcast, someone who doesn’t fit in with the crowd, or even someone with a different sexual orientation. According to research published in the American Sociological Review April edition, popular kids are in fact sometimes more prone to be bullied in school. The study is a follow-up from a similar one published in 2011.
