Bullied Children At Higher Risk Of Night Terrors, Nightmares, Sleepwalking


Children who are victims of bullying are at a higher risk of having nightmares, night terrors and sleepwalking. Professor Dieter Wolke of University of Warwick in the UK published his findings on bullying on children between the ages of 8 & 10 are more likely to experience the mentioned effects later in life.

As stated in the article, bullying can be very distressing and frightful for children, as it creates damage that can sometimes not be reversed after so many years of abuse. According to the researchers, previous studies have showed that
Additionally, children who are bullied at a very young age may suffer from something called parasomnia. Children who were severely bullied aged 8-10 were more likely to have both nightmares and night terrors at age 12, while those who were bullied and bullied others were most likely to have any parasomnias.
Children who bullied others at age 8-10 but who were not victims of bullying had no increased risk of any parasomnias.
