A study made by the university of
Oxford. Suggests that children who are bullied regularly by a sibling are more
likely to suffer from depression when they’re older.
The study was carried out by asking
7,000 children at the age of 12 in order to see how many of them had been
exposed to hurtful words or hurtful situations when dealing with a sibling.
According to the study, girls were
slightly more likely to have been a subject of bullying by a sibling.
Especially in families where there were three or more children. Older brothers
were often found to be responsible.
Lead author Dr. Lucy Bowes, mentioned
how “it may be causing long-term harm. We need to do more research, but we also
need parents to listen to their children.”
