Student Pleads With Senator to Create Anti-Bullying Legislation
After being bullied dozens of times for being gay at Daniel
Pearl Magnet High School, James Anthony Scott is reaching out to local
representatives. On December 4th he found a note on his locker with
an offensive term for a gay man and a message that read, “Get out or die.” That
was the law straw.

“Extreme Bullying’ Cases Defendant’s Been Convicted
The last of the four defendants in the ‘’extreme bullying”
case in St. Louis County has been convicted. 22-year-old Nicholas Nettles,
along with Walter Worthan, 23-year-old Brandon Nettles and 18-year-old Jervon
Vaughn have all been convicted and are now serving sentences that range from
five to seven years in prison.

John Halligan, formerly of Vermont,
urged parents at a presentation to be aware of what their child is doing on the
Internet. In 2003, John lost his son because he was being bullied via rumors on
the Internet among classmates. He explained to parents the dangers of cyber
bullying and what needs to be done to stop it. His son, Ryan, was a little
slower than his peers and was bullied because of it.

Rutgers University Faces Another Bullying Scandal
The defensive coordinator, Dave
Cohen, for Rutgers University’s football team is under fire for allegedly
bullying a freshman player. The player, Jevon Tyree, has quit the team and his
family is asking that the coordinator be disciplined for his actions. Tyree
claims he was called degrading names in a study hall in front of his teammates
and an academic advisor, who later reported the incident.
