Transgender Actress Speaks Out About Childhood Bullying

Lavern Cox, of Orange Is The New Black, spoke about her horrible memories of growing up in Alabama. She opened up about being constantly bullied by her peers for her transgender beliefs. Cox explained how she was physically assaulted and constantly verbally abused by classmates.
Cox and her brother were assaulted with drumsticks and never told their mother, until a parent who saw the incident called the principal. She admits that she never told anyone about the bullying because she was scared of getting in trouble for not fighting back by her mother.
