Having built a successful
drug-prevention program, a Clarksville elementary school had expanded Red
Ribbon week to include bullying prevention. Red Ribbon Week is a national
program that began in 1985 that looks to keep students drug-free.
In recent years, bullying has
become an increasing issue in schools. A growing level of attention has also
been drawn to the matter and the problems that follow due to the constant
torment and abuse.
At Pisgah Elementary School, they
combined both anti-bullying and drug-free campaigns, pushing for a commitment
by students to end bullying and stay away from drugs.
Kelly Hall, a first grade teacher
at Pisgah Elementary had this to say about the efforts being made to end
bullying, “As our students grow, many are faced with tough choices, and we want
them to know that we, teachers and staff, are one of their greatest
cheerleaders, supporters and encouragers to live a life destined for success.”
