Schools everywhere have been pulling
their weight in the mission to stop bullying across the country. There are some
methods that are widely known and are used to deal with certain situations
where bullying is an issue.
One of the popular methods is
called “peer meditation.” “Peer mediation involves bringing the bully and the
victim together in the same room, in order to talk about the problem, and find
a solution,” says Child Psychologist Melissa Martin.
The problem comes after the “peer
meditation” meeting is over. Owing to the fact that bullying then becomes
covert, and bullies make sure they do their bullying outside the reach of staff
or any adults.
The main goal is to have the school
say, “This is not acceptable.” This will make the negative behavior be
extinguished much quicker if everybody makes an effort to spread awareness
about the issue.
