Jonathon
Martin, the Miami Dolphin’s rookie offensive tackle, was placed on the reserve
list recently due to continued bullying by his teammates. Martin has been with the dolphins for a
little over one season, after being a 2012 second round draft pick.
Martin was allegedly bullied since he was
drafted and he felt that it went far beyond the normal hazing that goes on, to
the point that he felt he could no longer contribute to the Dolphins due to the
torment. Martin reported constant name
calling as well as multiple instances of isolation with all the other players
leaving when he attempts to eat lunch with them. The Dolphin’s head coach, Joe
Philbin, and other team officials declined to comment on the ongoing situation
with Martin and it is unclear if he will return to play with the Dolphins
again.
