School choice, which allows parents
and students to choose what school they would like to attend, is being looked
at as a new way to curb bullying. Students who have been bullied and move on
through higher grades with their bullies most likely continue to be bullied. If
they are presented with school choice, it is a way for them to escape their
bullies.
Studies show that students who are defined as “gifted” or “different”
are more likely to be targets for bullies because it is easier to pick on them.
Academic success is a huge factor that bullying tends to effect. With school
choice becoming more popular in communities, we can help fight against
bullying.
