The Kindness Of A Town Saves Bullied Teen

Michigan sophomore Whitney Kropp was excited to learn she had been chosen for homecoming court.  However, she soon learned it was a prank played on her by bullies, otherwise known as the popular students.
She said the humiliation had gotten so intense for her that she contemplated suicide.  However, support from her local community was overwhelming.  A Facebook page supporting Whitney garnered over 100,000 likes, and local businesses pitched in to buy her dress, her new haircut, a manicure, and her homecoming dinner.

What started as a cruel joke by bullies was drowned out by the incredible amount of support Whitney received, as over 1,000 people came out for her at the homecoming game, chanting “Whit-ney! Whit-ney!”

Just after halftime, Whitney, in her stunning dress and new haircut, said, “The kids that are bullying you, do not let them bring you down.  Stand up for what you believe in and go with your heart and go with your gut.”
