Bullying Complaint Leads to the Temporary Closing of an Amherst High School

A Massachusetts high school has been temporarily closed as the results of a bullying complaint and a threat of violence. The complaint comes from a male student whose Facebook posting included threats to bring a gun to the school to combat his alleged bullying.
School principal Mark Jackson said that some issues arose after the student “who is white, was involved in a conflict with a group of ARHS students who are black.” There is also an investigation to determine if these issues include a civil rights violation as racial slurs were used. Until all investigations are completed, the student will not be allowed back at school and all guns have been removed from his home.
