The tragedy of 17-year-old Carlos Vigil ending his own life
this past July has again been brought media attention related to a new
anti-bullying bill named after him.
Vigil was a high school student who was
bullied both at school and cyberbullied online for being gay, which then lead
him to take his own life. In his memory, his family and loved ones are
requesting their senator to approve a bill named after Vigil that will put
$200,000 toward anti-bullying programs. It will be titled the Carlos Vigil
Memorial Fund in hopes of fulfilling Vigil’s dream to end bullying.
