Maryland State Department of Education Taking Consequences for Cyber-Bullying Seriously

The Maryland State Department of Education is adapting its rules and regulations to reflect modern technology and the growing issue of cyber-bullying within schools.
Public school systems in Maryland are now required to report any incidences of cyber-bullying to the department after the 2013 passing of Grace’s Law. The law is named after a local high school student who ended her own life as the result of cyber-bullying on social media websites. Efforts are also being made to bring awareness to the issue of dating violence in the school system in addition to the issue of cyber-bullying.
