An anonymous parent in Texas is accusing the Aledo High School football
team of bullying after his son’s football team lost the game 91-0. Despite the Aledo coach’s best efforts to
lessen the blow, by switching out the first string players and having them not
play as aggressively as usual, the score kept getting higher and higher.
After the report by the parent of a Fort
Worth Western Hills player there was an investigation by the school district
into whether or not the game was a actually a case of bullying. The investigation turned up nothing and most
officials agree that it was not in fact a case of bullying by the winning
team.
The coach of the losing team released a statement saying how the Aledo
team played harder and had more skill in the game, which is not bullying but
how you are supposed to play the game. The Aledo High School football team
outscores their opponent by an average of 77 points per game but this was the
first time that a disgruntled parent tried to use bullying to intervene and some
think that it can downplay the seriousness of actual bullying that takes place
in sports and classrooms alike.
