A mother of a
student at University Prep in Seattle voices her anger after her son was
allegedly bullied throughout his time spent at the prestigious private school.
The mother states that instead of protecting her son, he was expelled and the
family is seeking damages in the amount of seven figures for tuition, pain, and
suffering.
The student, who is referred to as “C.L.” was on the honor board at
the school as well as the academic council. He says that the teachers and
administrators stood and watched the bullying occur without taking action. It
began with racial and homophobic insults. C.L. says the bullying only
intensified from there. His grades and mental heath took a hard hit due to the
harassment and he lost the motivation to continuing going to school. C.L.’s
parents received a call from the school stating that he was not allowed to
return for his senior year. His mother says he was “tormented” and “used” by
University Prep. The private school denies all allegations in the case and
isn’t able to further comment on the situation. C.L.’s attorney says the school
protected the bullies because of where they come from and expelled the victim,
C.L.
