This article summarizes how bullying starts and who are
usually the victims of bullying.
Research shows that twenty to thirty percent of school kids are involved
in bullying incidents either as a victim or as the bully. The victims are often
shy and tend to be physically weaker than their peers.
They may also show signs
of low self-esteem, and poor social skills, making it easier for bullies to
target them because they, the bullies, know these kids wont be able to do much.
Victims of bullying may suffer both physically and emotionally and instead of
focusing in class, they’ll be busy wondering what they did wrong that made them
the target of this situation. This will cause their grades to go down. Some
signs of kids being bullied are if they refuse to go to school, they show up
with unexplained bruises, their social activities have dropped significantly
low etc. It’s important both at home and in school that parents and teachers
talk to students who may show signs of being bullied.
