A South Carolina school district has blocked a new app,
called Yik Yak, from its servers in an attempt to lessen the cyberbullying
epidemic. The app allows users to post anonymously in a chat room style format,
which has led to bullying of students.
Even though the schools have banned the
app from their servers, students can still access it from their mobile
networks. Because of this, school officials are asking parents to step in and
monitor their children’s phones to try to eliminate the app’s negative use.
